meeting my colleagues for sushi lunch tomorrow and IT BETTER BE GOOD because i’m way too excited to be let down

feels
feels like everything i’ve done/seen prior to this has been good, even perfect, and i should have never complained about things that others may not even have the privilege to own. like water. food. electricity. basic necessities like that. i now have a roof over my head, clean water to drink, a washing machine to do my laundry, while kids right down the street are surviving on tap water (that is toxic) and food from the trash… you know what they say, never take things for granted—what i just saw brings a whole new level to this phrase for me. it’s cliche, but in case you haven’t noticed, a lot of the secrets to life are hidden behind cliches, so don’t ever take them too lightly.
change doesn’t mean improvement
and new doesn’t mean better
thought my day was going to be perfect starting from the perfectly glazed kk doughnut and great bus ride in the morning, but see what happens at night with the bus.
i’m getting restless with this situation. ready to go home.
we were totally living it up today, being all touristy and seeing a side of bangalore that we wish we could afford to be in 24/7.
1 & 2) visited the mahatma gandhi statue which we thought would be like magnificent but turned out to be meh. and we can’t even go directly in front of it (there’s a barricade), which was really… #why
3, 4 & 5) unintentionally walked by an aquarium on our way to ub city, and since the ticket was only 5 rupees each, we decided to just see what they had and truthfully, it really sucks compared to either the aquarium in the burger zoo in arnhem or the one in sentosa back home. also realized that overcrowding is really a problem in india: note how overcrowded the aquariums are!
6, 7, 8 & 9) finally arrived at ub city after traversing the treacherous roads of bangalore and man was it worth it.. every single drop of water that i had loss from the walk was worth it. it’s definitely different from other parts of bangalore that we are used to in a good way, reminds me of sg and made me homesick. would be sure to return for that italian restaurant/bar at the rooftop for the sick teatime buffet menu.
10) AWESOME DINNER: best one we’ve made since moving into this apartment.
happy saturday! slept in, woke up late to realize i didn’t update this thing yesterday, decided to do it along with update from today before the end of the day but since i don’t think i will be awake for very long now, here’s the update.
photos:
1) basically, we have weekly exercise session in the office every friday evening. yup, let it soak in… who does that??? but it happened and this week we did kickboxing, although on most fridays we have yoga sessions which i’m pretty much looking forward to (cos i think i do like yoga).
2) cows hanging out by the road right outside houses and no one even cares.
3, 4, 5 & 6) the kind of food we have been eating the past couple of days. lucky to have people who can cook and enjoy doing so in this household, if not i have no idea what kind of junk i’d be stuffing into my body for the next 2.5 months. i’ve been tasked to do the laundry which i truly don’t mind since i don’t have to cook or wash.
today must be the most eventful day since i’m here, for sure. at work, we had a guest speaker, who is one of the founders of Compassites, come in to speak about being extraordinary. it’s cliche, but the secrets in life are all hidden behind cliches. so you know, we can all be extraordinary!
then we had a roundup of what the company has been/is/will be doing, and it all sounds really good. so glad that i’m here doing something meaningful and not in singapore, where being an intern just means doing saigang (shit that people don’t wanna do) all the time. i’m required to take in more than i can absorb, but it’s still good since i’m still learning.
after work, my flat mates made pasta which was truthfully quite delicious. mad skills for guys really. they even made ice cream sandwich from the 50 cents ice cream that we got!
just as we thought the night was going to be glorious, the electricity went out for like 2 hours after a thunderstorm. i kid you not, there was absolutely no ventilation and i was really to just sleep outside the door. but it eventually came back on as we were about to sleep so as i type this i’m sitting directly under the fan… zzz
